Classroom Highlights

We just had one of our best field trips ever!  Mr. Brad Dexheimer, a former student of Mrs. Stelter's, is now one of Mr. Herbert Kohler's pilots.  He invited us to the airport to see the planes he flies.  The students got to tour a Learjet and Gulfstream jets.  They even got to sit in the pilot's seat to check out all of the important buttons and switches.  Mr. Dexheimer also gave us a lot of information about how to become a pilot.  He gets to travel all over the world doing a job he loves!  He encouraged the students to think about becoming pilots, schedulers, mechanics, and air traffic controllers.

It is hard to believe that we have only about 12 days of school left!  Concentrating has gotten harder, but we still have some great lessons to learn about Wisconsin and Australia.  Walk by our room and you can see some of our Australian art projects

History
We are about half way through our Wisconsin Unit.  The students love the colorful history of our great state.  If you see them, ask them about Jean Nicolet, or Jolliet and Marquette, or the eagle Old Abe.  One of our students, Josh, even lived in Peshtigo for awhile.  That is the site of the most deadly forest fire in the U.S. - more died there than in the Chicago fire!

Religion
We are also busy practicing for our Chapel Service.  Sorry, can't tell you about it - it's a surprise!  We'll be presenting it next Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m., and again on Grandparents' Day.

Spanish
The whole school got together for a Cinco de Mayo fiesta!  We had walking tacos for lunch and played Loteria! (Spanish bingo).  We also did the “Mexican Hat Dance”, had a piñata (thanks Mrs. Stelter), and ran a Mexican hat relay race.  It was so much fun for all of us to get together to share in this event. Students are concentrating on affirmative and negative words and using adjectives as nouns. We are learning how to use a Spanish dictionary to look up words for animals and body parts.
